If you've visited the website recently, you'll see I've been spending a bit of time trying to rephotograph collections and improve things generally to make it easier to navigate.

It's a lot of learning, and a very different routine from making the jewellery, but it's been a nice way to keep myself excited and motivated throughout the past few weeks - much needed during the depths of January for reasons pertaining to both the weather, and the general slower pace of work.

He's taken the brief: Bianca making The Struck Pendant (the wee burnt matchstick) but make it dramatic, high energy and cat aproved, and absolutely smashed it. 🔨💥

I'll not lie, irl, the lights are harsher, the process longer, and there are a few more steps, but Lottie is usually giving her verdict from the sidelines, so that bit is definitely true to life. 🐈‍⬛️

I've been melting down some scrap metal recently. I remelt and use scraps and off-cuts a lot, and exclusively for The Struck Pendant (the burnt match necklace) and the Aether Studs and Pendant. So those offerings are always made from twice recycled silver! 😉

The main reason I've been melting so much down recently though, is for photography and film shoots! (Molten metal and fire generally is obviously pretty cool!)

A couple more commissions were found under the tree in 2024.

After making a client's christening bracelet into a pendant, a few more folks went rummaging through their jewellery boxes, looking for their baby bangles to enquire about remodelling.

The tassle on the first pendant was made from the original bangles scalloped identity plate that was carefully removed, adapded, reinforced, and decorated in the ball burr cut texture. The back shows the original engraving of her name, although this pendant can easily be worn with the name facing outward. The rest of the bangle was formed into the three graduating hoops, with the original bear design being swapped out in favour of the classic tiny hammer texture. This one reminds me of a dream catcher. It is on a longer chain and is worn low for a bohemian look.

The second pendant was formed into a classic Russian ring design with the original embossed pattern preserved and facing outward, suspended from an oversized jumpring bail. It is a classic tactile piece for everyday wear.

At this time of year, it's so nice to be able to finally share a few of the Christmas commissions I was working on in November and December.

So here is this lovely sterling silver pendant: created for a lucky partner, with personal sentiments hand stamped on three of the four sides of the cuboid pillar, and the decorative 'tiny hammer' texture on the fourth face.

I hope hope it's truely treasured. 😊

I've been having a bit of fun today with some photography, trying to get a nice shot of this gold-plated pendant. It’s not perfect, but I’m winding down for Christmas, so we’ll call it good enough for now. I really should be prepping tomorrow's soup and finishing up final presents for the family!

This kyanite pendant on a chunkyish 16" belcher chain is beaut! I'm having a go again at playing about with photography, but I haven't got a lot of new stuff to take photos of, so this pendant that is still available BTW will need to be the subject for now.

I want to get a prime macro lens for my Nikon D7500. I'm thinking tamron 90mm, or nikkon one or sigma one... I don't know 😅🤣 Any photographers got any advice for me on that front?

This little match has struck something in you this Christmas, (and very much more sought after than it's ciggarette end sister - I guess they're an aquired taste.) While I can't think of any more used up small objects to add to The Spent Collection, I know this one will be available in the new year.

I'd considered little apple cores, something about knowledge and sin... maybe it'll happen, maybe not... any ideas?

Are we ready for a bit of soppiness?

Usually, at this time of year, I'm still flurrying around, but I find myself idle this week. It seems you've all got yourselves organised for Christmas a little earlier this year!

It's left room for me to think about the year as a whole and all that I've created in the past four years. There's been a mix of pride, uncertainty, joy, and sorrow. Working for yourself is a wild ride.

I've been quiet here. Honestly, there's been a bit of doubt and a bit of seasonal sad, I think. Without starting a pity party, it's been a time! But, it's time I got back to sharing here and showed up as I am.

This image popped up on my photos widget... it's from right at the beginning, actually, earlier than that, from before I started. It's of me crafting an engagement ring for a friend on a bookcase in my father in laws house where I was living about five years ago. This picture reminded me how much I've built, but also of how much I've been given. How much I've learned, but of how fortunate I've been. Moments of gratitude are getting me through to the end of this trying year, and I don't express enough how much each of your efforts provides that source of gratitude.

So, thank you to each and every one of you who has helped me to build this. I didn't do any of it alone. How did you help me? Of course, you may have bought my jewellery and for it's necessity, that deserves its own special thank you, but you also shared my content, helped me using your special skills, cheered me on, made me believe in myself, gave me opportunities, made things easier than they could have been, lifted me up, even gave me resources I didn't earn or have or 'deserve' more than anyone else. You took pictures, made films, hosted events, and gave me sweets on slow market days, just to make a momentary disappointment a little softer.

There are so many of you, too many to mention you all... I worry if I try to list you all, I might miss folks out. There's even been the folks who helped me that I didn't see were helping at the time, so for those reasons, I won't try to list you all.

So, Thank you for your gifts and for sharing them with me.

It seems you're all prepared early this year!

An Introduction

In the spirit of a few months of introspection, I felt it was a time to share again a little about myself.

For those who have just recently followed, I'm Bianca, and I create silver and occasionally gold jewellery. Sometimes I make from my heart, sometimes I make to show you yours. I do this from my home studio in Troon, where I commit myself to making full-time.

I'm grateful to have been allowed the space required to build up my small business. My husband has been championing my efforts for 4 years, and with him and mascot Lottie 🐈‍⬛️ by my side, I've been giving it all I have throughout. It's all consuming, but I try to find balance. It's the best job I've ever had but my boss doesn't pay me well and is somewhat deranged.

I guess I just love to be at my bench, I love making jewellery because I love the details, the crispness, the challenge, the discipline... I love to get lost in the slow process, and I love learning and practising the skills and techniques that make handcrafted jewellery possible.

I guess it's just love.

I hope what I can offer for you is something that you can love and treasure because of the heart that goes into it.

I remodelled this hollow style children's bracelet recently, too! It's been a pleasure to work on so many of these recently, some of which I've been unable to share as they're being kept under wraps until after Christmas.

This time, the piece was melted down with added silver to create a new ingot of silver to work from. The original engravings inside, of course, couldn't be saved as they have been in other children's bracelet alterations, but I recreated them using letter stamping punches to add the original message to the inner rings of this kinetic necklace.

Making some pieces with stones!

I had this lovely kyanite stowed away in my stash. I thought it might be nice to create something with it.

When it comes to stones, I find it hard to design too much around them. I always lean toward simply setting them.
