COAST Gallery Troon: Art, Craft, and Handmade Gifts in Ayrshire

There are certain places in a town that feel like its heartbeat — places people drift into not just to buy something, but because it feels good to be there. In Troon, for me, that place is COAST Gallery.

I first stepped inside long before my work ever sat on its shelves. At the time, I was still figuring out what my business would become; COAST was already fully itself — carefully curated, warm, and full of the kind of creativity that makes you linger even when you didn’t intend to.

A Gallery Rooted in Community

COAST Gallery is a space built by someone who understands artists from the inside. Milla, the owner, is an artist herself and has shaped the gallery into something that feels personal. The work on display — paintings, prints, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, and more — is entirely Scottish-made, which gives the gallery a strong sense of identity.

It isn’t a gift shop in the usual sense. It’s a home for makers. Everything in the gallery feels chosen, not stocked.

Visitors often tell me that what they love about COAST is the variety: bold contemporary art beside soft, atmospheric landscape prints; handmade ceramics next to sculptural silver jewellery; pieces that feel truly one-of-a-kind. You get the sense that every artist represented is telling their own story, and the gallery brings those stories together.

My Connection to COAST

COAST was the first place to stock my jewellery. I still remember the mix of nerves and gratitude when Milla selected pieces from my Core Collection — it felt like a real turning point. Having my work displayed there gave me confidence at a time when I really needed it, and since then my relationship with the gallery, and Milla,  has become both professional and personal.

Seeing my pieces sitting amongst the work of other Scottish makers is still surreal. COAST is the kind of place where customers take time to look closely at craft: to hold a piece, ask questions, and understand the maker behind it. That attention is rare, and I’m endlessly grateful for it.

Why COAST Matters to Troon

Troon has a strong creative undercurrent, and COAST plays a large part in that. It supports local artists, introduces residents and visitors to new work, and offers a space that feels welcoming rather than intimidating — the opposite of a white-walled gallery where you’re afraid to breathe too loudly.

It’s also a place that locals recommend without hesitation. Whether someone is visiting from elsewhere in Scotland, exploring Ayrshire for a weekend, or wandering in after a walk along the beach, COAST is usually on the list of “you must pop in here.”

Visiting COAST

If you find yourself in Troon, whether for the coastline, the cafés, or simply to explore somewhere new, COAST Gallery is worth a visit. You’ll discover work from artists across Scotland and maybe a piece that speaks to you in a way you didn’t expect.

And if you recognise some silver jewellery in the cabinet, it might just be mine.
