Silver Aperture Dangle Earrings

The Silver Aperture Dangle Earrings are a sculptural pair of handmade earrings built around an open, interlocking form. Each earring is shaped from recycled sterling silver wire, formed into a three-dimensional loop that plays with light, movement, and negative space. Like the aperture of a camera, the negative space within these earrings is the point at which meaning enters. The design is clean and contemporary, but still unmistakably handmade, with subtle irregularities that mark the piece as individually crafted rather than manufactured.

The aperture shape sits at the base of a long, elegant hook that threads cleanly through the ear. These hooks give the earrings their gentle swing and make the form feel weightless when worn. Despite their length, they are extremely comfortable and designed for all-day wear, with a smooth polished finish that catches light without feeling overstated.

As with all my jewellery, these earrings are made entirely from recycled sterling silver, shaped and soldered in my small Scottish workshop. The aperture form is one I return to again and again in my work — a shape that suggests openness, curiosity, and the way we look through and around things. Each pair is slightly different because of the making process, which means no two loops resolve themselves in exactly the same way. This is intentional. It reflects the handmade nature of the piece and the small decisions made in the moment during fabrication.
